Yeah, you're right about that. But the battle theme to Star Ocean : Till the End of Time is pretty bad ass. The last battle to final fantasy 9 sounds somewhat like the last battle to Final Fantasy Legends. And I like the boss theme to Breath of Fire 2. Super Mario RPG's battle theme is quite catchy as well as well as the boss and Secret of Mana's Theme is good as well.

most of em are from squaresoft rpgs. Breath of Fire 2, which is one I had finished a long time ago is from capcom has some pretty wicked battle tunes. Tales of Phantasia really doesn't have a great sound track, but the rest of the game is fun enough to keep you involved until the end. Secret of Evermore has pretty good boss music too, but my favorite is still Star Ocean : Till the End of Time.

There's a lot of good ones on zsnes. Two games people tend to stray away from because of the difficulty factor are Treasure of the Rudras and Romancing Saga 3.
I've played both of them very much, but I have yet to finish them.

Treasure of the Rudras has a really good battle and boss battle sound track and Romancing Saga 3 has a good battle sound track as well.

One over world theme I like a lot though is the Final Fantasy 6,7,8 and 9 over world themes as well as Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu 3 and Secret of Evermore over worlds. The Battle on Dollet theme in final fantasy 8 was a good one to listen to also.

I have me an mp3 player and all of them are songs from various video games I've played. Mostly rpgs. From final fantasy 5 to final fantasy 10. And Bahamut Lagoon to Zelda. Link to the past. You can dump music files from snes games and make them into mp3. So I did that and my Library is pretty cool.

Been listening to the battle map 1 of Bahamut Lagoon, Romancing Saga 3, Star Ocean : Till the End of Time and various other game music on my MP3. Now the battery has run out of it, so I'm recharging it with a wire cord.

After listening to it not much of a Trance fan. I can't believe I'm going to say this, but after listening to Vioz's disturbed, it's actually quite good. I'm impressed. I won't lie.
